San Ysidro Mts. Southwest slope, elevation 2000 feet. Shows skeletons of fire killed Arctostaphylos (otayensis). This species does not regenerate by sprouting. Associates: Adenostoma fasciculatum, Chamaebatia foliolosa australis, with occasional Photinia arbutifolia, Rhus laurina and Ceanothus tomentosa.
